To Cake or Not

Learning to Grow

One of the things that I like about cake decorating and sugar art is the learning of new techniques.  There are so many wondrous things that be created with sugar.

When I started on this path, little did I know that it would lead me to meeting some really interesting people who were either novices like me or had been doing this as a lifelong career.

Some of the people are more well known sugar artists and cake decorators who have been gracious in giving their time to not only answer questions to help us learn and grow but even taking a picture for those of us who are in awe of them 🙂 .

I have been fortunate enough to of be able to attend some of their classes or demonstrations.  Seeing and meeting them at various events such as the Oklahoma Sugar Art Show, Fun with Sugar Event or the Days of Sharing.

I highly recommend anyone that is interested in this art form to attend local competitions or the Days of Sharing sponsored by the local chapters of the International Cake Exploration Society (ICES) in your state.  It is a great way to get some hands on learning and meet others with the same interest.

Here are just a few that I’ve met over the last 3 to 4 years.

Hopefully as I continue along this path I will have the opportunity to grow my knowledge more and find even more marvelous things to create.
