Thoughts at Midnight by S.E. Allen
Try as I might to close my eyes.
I sometimes lie awake until midnight.
The day is finished, things are done.
Mind wanders, thoughts still on the run.
The beginning of doubt starts to sink in.
Were all actions with good reason?
Things started going awry.
Trust broken again, started to cry.
Tired of this same old thing.
This is not me playing a game.
Need someone who cares and is true.
Not things coming unglued.
Life is too short for dishonesty.
That is not and never me.
Stop acting offended.
When caught red handed.
Thought I was dumb or blind.
Messed with the wrong woman’s mind.
My life has taught a few things or two.
I can live with or without you.
